WFH – ease or tease?
How beleaguered I felt when heard that we would be working from
home. Will my creative endeavours begin to squander? Will this doggone covid-19
crisis change the way I work? And as I will be in isolation environment, will I
be working an extra two or three hours a day? And when I thought of the chair I
have to sit at the time of working on my computer, I shuddered.
I can’t remain at it and make both my torso and head happy at the
same time. There was a seemingly endless stream of questions kicked off in my head
narrowing down the possibility to imagine seeing myself working from home.
Out of all these questions, my mind just got stuck at the thought
of the limited options to achieve an ideal working position. What if this
doesn’t happen? Will I have to keep standing frequently? But what should be the
frequency? Maybe, I will have to get up after every 30 to 45 minutes to
minimize unnecessary muscle strain. The prolonged sitting was never a problem,
but I will have to deal with it smartly.
To
facilitate extra movements, I will probably have to take my phone calls, either
by standing up or walking within the room. I will have to be more than careful
as I come with pre-existing medical conditions, and I can’t afford to worsen
them. I know I will have difficulty doing so, but I will somehow manage it. So
far, we have learnt that it is not only our country but the entire world that
is going through this troubled time. We don’t know yet how long this will last.
So we better make the required changes to make it.
