Stop chasing the MOUSE

pressing a key along with another one or both simultaneously gets you where you want to be in a jiffy. It is cool, isn’t it? It makes you feel like a computer buff as you command your system flicking through tabs, clearing out the junk wherever it is on your system, chatting with your coworkers and that too without moving your hands more than an inch. Although using a mouse is generally believed to take lesser time than a keyboard, it is considered a lower-level cognitive function to reach your mouse and find where the cursor is on the screen. Switching to keyboard use come to many mouse users the hard way; they had to undergo repetitive strain injury (RSI).

Let me share something staggering here about your job if it requires you to be on your computer all day long for about 8 hours, then knowing keyboard shortcuts can save you 8 entire workdays. Wasting 2 seconds a minute (in 480 minutes a working day & 240 workdays a year) amounts to 64 wasted hours a year. Therefore, memorizing keyboard shortcuts could scale up your productivity by 3% which may look marginal to you now but it is going to save you 8 entire working days.

For example, Ctrl+T will open a new tab in your browser for which you take the cursor to the + sign and click it using the mouse. Imagine how many times you need to open a new tab on the browser? Not only this but for many other commands if such keys can save your time considerably, what’s wrong with that?  Similarly, you will find a lot of links/sites offering these shortcuts to save you not only your precious time but the label of being “Dependent on a Mouse.” You can put them up somewhere on your workstation or any of your room walls and the repetitive glance (even with least interest) will do the job. You must have begun fanaticizing using these keys but you mustn’t stick to your mouse any longer. Trust me! You can also be desirably efficient for others and yourself too.

Keep your kidney sweet!

Give it an inch and it won’t ask for a mile. It undoubtedly fits a “KIDNEY” though it is contrary to this cliché by all means. But as due to its significance in the human body and the reasons for a premature death caused by its failure or some serious health issues, it shouldn’t be treated like a camel’s hunch reliable in harsh weather conditions. We can never be well-adapted for dehydration like a camel whose blood cells are so tiny to help blood in circulation after it thickens from harmful water reduction in the body.

I know how much well-versed we are on the subject; however, I would like to share some tried and tested tips to have your kidney function properly.

Do whatever it takes to be in shape:

You can’t just keep piling up all the calories in the stuff you have. You need to be in shape which requires a doable workout plan for you if not daily, at least 4 days a week. This will help reduce your blood pressure which will, therefore, scale down the risk of Kidney-related diseases.

Keep tracks of your blood sugar

level:
A considerable number of people suffering from Diabetes develop damage to their Kidneys. Therefore, it is important for such people to never care less to have their blood sugar tested regularly to ensure the efficient functioning of their kidneys.

Keep regular control of your

blood pressure:

None can say that don’t know the higher risks of stroke or cardiac arrest and a kidney failure in case of high blood pressure. You are hypertensive if your BP level is 139/89 while the normal level is 120/80. In case you being in the neighborhood of 140/90, you should see your doctor and regularly monitor your blood pressure.

Be on a healthy diet and keep watching

 your weight:

Develop a habit to be on a healthy diet to prevent yourself from diabetes, cardiac arrests, strokes and kidney failure. Reduce your salt intake as 5-6 grams of salt is recommended per day which shouldn’t be exceeded. Don’t eat out or go for processed food rather stick to home-made with fresh ingredients. Should you have any doubts, have an appointment with a Nutritionist.

Make sure the fluid intake is healthy:

The modern research is not any different regarding fluid intake especially water than traditional wisdom suggested long ago which is 1.5 to 2 liters per day. As doing so helps your kidney get rid of sodium and other toxins which according to the research significantly lowers the risks of kidney-related diseases. Remember to not have aggressive fluid loading as some of us tend to go for bold changes in their routines landing ourselves into the problems with painful solutions.

Don’t smoke:

Smoking slows down the blood flow to your kidney. Remember less blood to your kidney, higher risks to its functionality. It can also cause kidney cancer.
Have your kidney checked if you have any of the risk factors below:
Are you diabetic?
Are you hypertensive?
Are you obese?
Are your parents or any one of them has kidney issues?
Are you from Africa, Asia or Aboriginal origin?

Don’t’ remember time never hanging heavy on me!

It was just on the spur of the moment when I opted for the scheduled dish in the lunch today, which first my teeth didn’t agree and then my stomach. I could hear the weird sounds of the cramps in my belly basket. Truth be told, this was driving me crazy to death.

To crown it, a self-proclaimed resource acted up over some of the bits in a write-up that had just been submitted. It was already way too difficult to respond calmly due to the condition I was in but struggling to regain my composure was the Hobson’s choice. I am kind of usually left with this choice as dealing with these know-it-all-kind-of people not boldly is preferably practiced here.

It is incumbent upon me to ensure the quality content which includes this trying step to call all one by one on their every submission of their projects. Sitting almost with each and every one of them enlightens me with what I would have never had even in the wildest dreams of mine. In the process of going through their write-ups with a fine tooth comb, comments are required so that discussion on them with the respective resource will help them avoid those errors in their upcoming projects. While I’m at it, I have to undergo such strange things that I have a mind to share them in an organized manner by publishing them on my blog. It would at least serve as my digital diary if not meant to amuse others.

Synoptically, I would love to share some of them here. It’s like you step in this amazing place, you find just on your left two workstations with two dedicated resources, who never learned to say “NO” to anyone. The first one is so engrossed in her work all day long that her lunch box with some fruits and a water bottle remain unconsumed on her way back home. Luckily even if she remembers she brought something from home, she offers them to the guy next to her. And this guy who even if has had the same fruits always accepts her offer. Right behind them are two resources besides each other whose sitting posture will give you an impression that they really know the meanings of “Feel at home.” After that, this passage opens into a hall where each individual is worth writing a book on.

As I mentioned before that without getting into the details I would just be highlighting their basic traits and behavior, here comes what is generally practiced and observed. Coughing which is sometimes so acute that it seems that someone is going to puke or something. Workstations with cushions of different colors and of different sizes are there for their nap which they can have at any time even if it is the time soon after their arrival in the office. Their request for the short leave, their complaints about the lunch served to them complementary, their complaints about who was to go to the restroom and specifically the peculiar things they do there which compels the management to arrange meetings to address these issues. And when this goes on, all the males are asked to either go the balcony where nothing spoken inside the hall can be heard or outside of the office. As a matter of fact, it is pretty difficult to bring them all out here. I give my words that I will be back with a lot more which I’m sure will add a lot to the concept of a professional atmosphere.
